The annual DreamWeek Summit will return to San Antonio for its seventh consecutive year in January 2019 with a lineup of over 200 events. The summit comprises 16 days of symposiums, panel discussions, performances, film screenings, art exhibits, and more, all designed to inspire discourse on civil issues relating to tolerance, equality, and diversity.

Women’s Rally Sign Making  

Come to Esperanza Peace & Justice Center on Wednesday, January 16th, to make signs for the Women’s Rally which is on Saturday at 11am at San Fernando Cathedral. Snacks and a good time will be provided!

Start time is at 6pm, bring your ideas and imagination!

The Hate U Give Screening and Panel Discussion 

The Martinez Street Women’s Center invites you to join them for a private screening of the movie – The Hate U Give – on Thursday, January 17th, at 6:30pm. Don’t miss the powerful film!

The movie is based on the critically acclaimed New York Times best-seller by Angie Thomas. It is the story of Starr Carter, who straddles two worlds: the mostly black neighborhood where she lives and the mostly white prep school she attends. After Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend at the hands of a police officer, she faces pressures from all sides of the community. The movie is rated PG-13.

Queer Voices Speak

The Center – Pride Center San Antonio – Queer Voices Speak – featuring poetry and spoken word is Thursday, January 17th, 6:30pm – 8:30pm, at The Center – Pride Center San Antonio, 1303 McCullough Ave, Ste 160!

Come listen to these powerful voices and share your own on the 3rd Thursday of each month!

Women’s March SA 2019, We are our Chosen Family  

It’s time to march again! Women’s March SA 2019/Rally is gathering on Saturday, January 19th, from 11am – 1pm, downtown in front of San Fernando Cathedral.

We are outraged. We are organized. They forgot that 5 million women lit the world on fire two years ago. On January 19, 2019, we’re going to remind them when we flood the streets of San Antonio: The #WomensWave is coming, and we’re sweeping the world forward with us.

Let’s show the world we are United as Women, we are here to support each other, regardless of sexual orientation, religious background, race, and ethnicity, we are here strong and will not be taken down!

MLK March  

The Annual MLK March is Monday, January 21st, starting at 10am at the MLK, Jr. Academy and ends at Pittman-Sullivan Park, 1101 Iowa.

The nearly 3-mile route down Martin Luther King Drive takes participants through San Antonio’s historic Eastside in remembrance of Dr. King.

In 2018, approximately 300,000 people participated in the march as part of an unforgettable experience that has become one of San Antonio’s signature events.

Unity in the LGBT Community-Honoring the Legacy of Dr. King 

PFLAG of San Antonio and Fiesta Youth are organizing a joint effort to unite our LGBT and allied community, to march together as one, for the 2019 MLK March, on Monday, January 21st.

ALL organizations and individuals are welcomed and encouraged to join. Together, we are stronger! Please reach out to Chad Reumann (President of PFLAG) or Darrell Garcia Parson (President of Fiesta Youth) to add your organization’s name to the event list of participants.

Many are meeting at Freeman Coliseum 3201 E. Houston Street at 9am to take the free VIA shuttle to the March. Everyone will assemble at the MLK Academy and then proceed to take our place in the line-up. Look for rainbow flags and banners of LGBT organizations. Handmade signs are encouraged!

The March is 2.75 miles long and ends at the Pittman-Sullivan Park, 1101 Iowa Street. A return shuttle will take you back the Freeman Coliseum. LGBTQ community has been registered as official participants with the City of San Antonio.

Q Connection – LGBTQ Meetup

Looking to get connected to other LGBTQ+ folks or thinking about coming out? Not sure what to do or where to turn for advice and support?

Q Connection is a safe, informal space to listen, discuss and learn, surrounded by community. This group is open to all LGBTQ+ folks, as well as to those who choose to not label themselves and those that support the community!

Film Screening of ANITA and Panel Discussion  

On Friday, January 25th, at 6:30pm, at The Rape Crisis Center, you are invited to a film screening and discussion to reflect on the historical significance of Anita Hill’s testimony against Clarence Thomas and explore the role of race and gender in the persistence of sexual violence through today’s #MeToo movement.

The panel will be made up of community members whose work and identities exist at these intersections and will be moderated by Councilwoman, Ana Sandoval. This event is free and open to the public.

The MarketPlace in Helotes

Saddle up and get ready for The MarketPlace at Old Town Helotes Saturday, February 2nd! Music, food, and a good time are served up, and local craftsmen fill Old Town with treasures from across South Texas.

Happening the first Saturday every month, The MarketPlace is located in the heart of Old Town Helotes near the historic Floore Country Store and scenic Helotes Creek. Jewelry, arts and crafts, fresh produce, and one-of-a-kind pieces will be displayed. Additionally, local boutiques will open their doors and offer visitors a taste of Old Town Helotes! Gates open at 10am and close at 5pm. Gather the kids and come down to Old Town for a day of fun. MarketPlace proceeds benefit community activities within the City of Helotes.

SoFlo Market is on Saturday, February 9th. Market hours are from 10am-5pm.

Mardi Gras Artisan Show

Over 40 artisans display and sell their beautiful handmade merchandise along the San Antonio Riverwalk. Artisans are different for each show, but usually include pottery, textiles, jewelry, woodwork, paintings, bead-work and more.

The show is free to attend. Artisans display and sell their beautiful handmade merchandise along the San Antonio River Walk. River Walk extension (close to the Chamber of Commerce building and Shops at Rivercenter)

Weekly Happenings

Fiesta Youth 

Youth  (Teen)  Meetings  are  held  every Tuesday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm  at the University Presbyterian Church, located at 300 Bushnell.

All youth aged 12-18 are welcomed to come join a Fiesta Youth Meeting. The youth meetings were created to provide a safe, non-judgmental, affirming place for all LGBTQ youth. Every Tuesday, the youth meet at UPC to meet new friends, participate in fun games and activities (field trips, too!), and join in on group discussions.

San Antonio Front Runners

A group of GLBTI runners/walkers who get together on Sunday mornings at 9:00 (in the summer). They leave from the garage behind the Witte Museum in Brackenridge Park (Avenue B and Tuleta Drive).

Alamo City Wranglers

The Wranglers are a GLBTQ & Friends Square Dancing Club.

They meet every Thursday, 7:30pm to 9:30pm, at The International Folk & Culture Center at Our Lady of the Lake University, 411 SW 24th St, Building 23 .

You can park in lot B.  **Except the week before IAGSDC convention, Thanksgiving, and the Christmas/New Year holiday weeks.

Live Oak Singerslive oak singers1

If you like to sing and harmonize with others, join the Live Oak Singers (LOS). They practice every Monday at 6:30pm – 9:30pm, at Woodlawn Pointe, 702 Donaldson Ave.

LOS include beginners to those who have degrees in music. They particularly need more female singers. LOS sing a wide variety of music from Broadway, pop, madrigal, country, gospel, barbershop and soft rock.

If you would like to join LOS this season, please let them know via email at ( so they can make arrangements for an audition time.  You are also welcome to sit in on a few rehearsals prior to auditioning to get to know us a bit prior to auditioning.  New singers will work with the Artistic Director to determine your vocal range, ability to match notes and stay on pitch, and determine your singing part (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass).   You DO NOT need to prepare a solo song for the audition.   Auditions will be held from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm prior to rehearsals starting.

Monthly Meetings

Stonewall Democrats (SDSA) meet every third Monday each month at Luther’s Café. Happy Hour starts at 6pm. Meeting starts at 6:30pm and finishes at 8pm. Bring your friends. Everyone is invited. Next Meeting is January 21st.
San Antonio Gender Association (SAGA) meets every first and third Thursdays of the month. Meetings are held from 6pm to 8pm at the MCC Church located at 611 East Myrtle. SAGA offers a welcoming meeting place for transgendered persons and their friends and family who support them. Next meeting is January 17th.
PFLAG San Antonio Meetings are held the first Thursday every month at 7:00pm at the University Presbyterian Church, 300 Bushnell Ave. Next meeting is February 7th.
