Memorial Day Artisan Show

Over 40 artisans display and sell their beautiful handmade merchandise along the San Antonio Riverwalk. Artisans are different for each show, but usually include pottery, textiles, jewelry, woodwork, paintings, bead-work and more.

The MarketPlace

antiques Saddle up and get ready for The MarketPlace at Old Town Helotes Saturday, June 2nd! Music, food, and a good time are served up, and local craftsmen fill Old Town with treasures from across South Texas.

Happening the first Saturday every month, The MarketPlace is located in the heart of Old Town Helotes near the historic Floore Country Store and scenic Helotes Creek. Jewelry, arts and crafts, fresh produce, and one-of-a-kind pieces will be displayed. Additionally, local boutiques will open their doors and offer visitors a taste of Old Town Helotes! Gates open at 10am and close at 5pm. Gather the kids and come down to Old Town for a day of fun. MarketPlace proceeds benefit community activities within the City of Helotes.

Texas Folklife Festival  

Get ready for the biggest cultural celebration in Texas on June 8th – June 9th! Located on the grounds of the Institute of Texan Cultures on the UTSA Hemisfair Campus, the three-day event showcases the Lone Star State’s diversity and rich heritage through a wide variety of ethnic food, music, dance, arts, and crafts.

Illuminate the Dark Demo Benefitting Lighthouse for the Blind  

Join Caliente Hot Glass for a glowing evening  with your favorite glass blowers to support a great cause on Saturday, June 9th! The artists will create pieces for donation to San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind for their 8th Annual Art in the Dark silent auction.

Free and open to the public, stop by any time on  June 9th, 6pm – 10pm!   Each artist takes about 30 – 60 minutes to make a piece. Or stay for the whole show and enjoy the journey!

At 9pm they will host a special art glass performance to showcase the glass in a whole new light. If you saw it last year, you’ll know it’s an event not to be missed!

Love Not Labels  

The 1st Annual Love Not Labels variety art show fundraiser will be held at the beautiful, newly renovated Woodlawn Pointe on Saturday, June 9th, in honor of Pride Month. In its’ inaugural year, all proceeds will benefit The Center (LGBTQA), Thrive Youth Center, & Fiesta Youth.

This event, organized by board member Misha Ortiz, will feature some of the best local performers, musicians and artists. There will be an art gallery, artisan/vendor market, nonprofits center, food vendors, spoken word/poetry, dance troupes, burlesque, live theater, drag queens, drag kings, DJs & local bands with merchandise tables.

The art gallery will be set up thru the halls of Woodlawn Pointe from 2pm-8pm. The food vendors, non-profit center & art market will be open from 2-8pm on the grounds of Woodlawn Pointe. Phantom of the Alamo, beginning at 2pm, will start the variety of events being held on the main stage at the Woodlawn Pointe Auditorium.

PLEASE BE ADVISED: After 8PM, some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. Mature audiences only after 8pm.

Admission is $7
Cash & credit card donations will be accepted throughout the event.

Fiesta Youth Drag Brunch Fundraiser  

A Sunday Drag Brunch for Fiesta Youth is June 17th at Knockout. Doors open and Brunch Served at 11:30am. The show starts at noon. Enjoy great food, comedy, drag and Mimosas.

Fiesta Youth is San Antonio’s Premier LGBTQ Youth Program. Their hope is to empower youth to build a future where ALL people are accepted and loved as they are.

You can help them achieve that goal, just by enjoying Brunch. Join them for an unlimited buffet, Mimosas and a great show.

Weekly Happenings

Fiesta Youth 

Youth  (Teen)  Meetings  are  held  every Tuesday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm  at the University Presbyterian Church, located at 300 Bushnell.

All youth aged 12-18 are welcomed to come join a Fiesta Youth Meeting. The youth meetings were created to provide a safe, non-judgmental, affirming place for all LGBTQ youth. Every Tuesday, the youth meet at UPC to meet new friends, participate in fun games and activities (field trips, too!), and join in on group discussions.

San Antonio Front Runners

A group of GLBTI runners/walkers who get together on Sunday mornings at 9:00 (in the summer). They leave from the garage behind the Witte Museum in Brackenridge Park (Avenue B and Tuleta Drive).

Alamo City Wranglers

The Wranglers are a GLBTQ & Friends Square Dancing Club.

They meet every Thursday, 7:30pm to 9:30pm, at The International Folk & Culture Center at Our Lady of the Lake University, 411 SW 24th St, Building 23 .

You can park in lot B.  **Except the week before IAGSDC convention, Thanksgiving, and the Christmas/New Year holiday weeks.

If you like to sing and harmonize with others, join the Live Oak Singers (LOS). They practice every Monday at 6:30pm – 9:30pm, at Woodlawn Pointe, 702 Donaldson Ave.

LOS include beginners to those who have degrees in music. They particularly need more female singers. LOS sing a wide variety of music from Broadway, pop, madrigal, country, gospel, barbershop and soft rock.

If you would like to join LOS this season, please let them know via email at ( so they can make arrangements for an audition time.  You are also welcome to sit in on a few rehearsals prior to auditioning to get to know us a bit prior to auditioning.  New singers will work with the Artistic Director to determine your vocal range, ability to match notes and stay on pitch, and determine your singing part (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass).   You DO NOT need to prepare a solo song for the audition.   Auditions will be held from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm prior to rehearsals starting.

Monthly Meetings

Stonewall Democrats (SDSA) meet every third Monday each month at Luther’s Café. Happy Hour starts at 6pm. Meeting starts at 6:30pm and finishes at 8pm. Bring your friends. Everyone is invited. Next Meeting is June 18th.
San Antonio Gender Association (SAGA) meets every first and third Thursdays of the month. Meetings are held from 6pm to 8pm at the MCC Church located at 611 East Myrtle. SAGA offers a welcoming meeting place for transgendered persons and their friends and family who support them. The next meeting is June 7th.
PFLAG San Antonio Meetings are held the first Thursday every month at 7:00pm at the University Presbyterian Church, 300 Bushnell Ave. Next meeting is June 7th.
