Q Connection is a safe, informal space to listen, discuss and learn, surrounded by community. This group is open to all LGBTQ+ folks, as well as to those who choose to not label themselves and those that support the community!

Join our friends from The Center – Pride Center San Antonio and meet Mathew Shepard’s parents and local law enforcement at Luther’s Cafe on Wednesday, March 20th, at 5:30pm to talk about how critical and important it is to report hate crimes in our community.
Matthew Shepard was a Laramie Wyoming College student whose was murdered for being Gay. His murder inspired the Federal Hate Crime Prevention Act.
Through the Matthew Shepard Foundation, Judy Shepard continues to share her son’s story and works to change the hearts and minds of others to simply accept everyone. Her message is one of understanding, compassion, and acceptance in order to erase hate.

Síclovía is a free, bi-annual event, organized by the YMCA of Greater San Antonio, that turns city streets into a safe place for exercise and play.
Síclovía is happening, Sunday, March 31st, 11am – 3pm.
The family-friendly event encourages residents and visitors to get out, get active and explore their city through car-free streets. The Y accomplishes this by activating parks, bringing exposure to local businesses and inviting community organizations. The Book Festival will be held on Saturday, April 6th, at the Central Library and the Southwest School of Arts, from 9am – 5pm. More than 90 national, regional, local and emerging authors will be featured.

Saddle up and get ready for The MarketPlace at Old Town Helotes Saturday, April 6th! Music, food, and a good time are served up, and local craftsmen fill Old Town with treasures from across South Texas.
Happening the first Saturday every month, The MarketPlace is located in the heart of Old Town Helotes near the historic Floore Country Store and scenic Helotes Creek. The Fiesta Oyster Bake® celebrates its 103rd Anniversary in 2019 is taking place April 12th – 13th at St. Mary’s University.
This scholarship fundraising music festival features five stages of entertainment offering continuous Rock, Country, Tejano/Latin, R&B/Hip Hop, Pop and Children’s music from national, regional and local recording artists, as well as a full carnival.
The event also features 100,000 oyster sold baked, raw and fried, plus 70+ food and beverage booths
The 34th Annual Taste of New Orleans will be held on April 12th-14th, at the Sunken Gardens.
There will be a wide assortment of New Orleans-style food including: gumbos, red beans and rice, shrimp creole, etouffee, shrimp kabob, jambalaya, cajun catfish, soft shell crab, crab au gratin, crab rolls, fresh crawfish boil, boudin, alligator, and more.

Fiesta® San Antonio started in 1891 as a one-parade event as a way to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto.
That historic commemoration still takes place, but for more than a century, Fiesta® has grown into a celebration of San Antonio’s rich and diverse cultures. Fiesta® has evolved into one of this nation’s premier festivals with an economic impact of more than $340 million for the Alamo City. Youth (Teen) Meetings are held every Tuesday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the University Presbyterian Church, located at 300 Bushnell. Next Meeting is March 26th
New location for Fiesta Youth will be at Woodlawn Pointe beginning April 2nd.
All youth aged 12-18 are welcomed to come join a Fiesta Youth Meeting. The youth meetings were created to provide a safe, non-judgmental, affirming place for all LGBTQ youth. Every Tuesday, the youth meet at UPC to meet new friends, participate in fun games and activities (field trips, too!), and join in on group discussions.
A group of GLBTI runners/walkers get together on Sunday mornings at 9:00 (in the summer). They leave from the garage behind the Witte Museum in Brackenridge Park (Avenue B and Tuleta Drive).
The Wranglers are a GLBTQ & Friends Square Dancing Club.
They meet every Thursday, 7:30pm to 9:30pm, at The International Folk & Culture Center at Our Lady of the Lake University, 411 SW 24th St, Building 23 .
You can park in lot B. **Except the week before IAGSDC convention, Thanksgiving, and the Christmas/New Year holiday weeks.
If you like to sing and harmonize with others, join the Live Oak Singers (LOS). They practice every Monday at 6:30pm – 9:30pm, at Woodlawn Pointe, 702 Donaldson Ave.
LOS include beginners to those who have degrees in music. They particularly need more female singers. LOS sing a wide variety of music from Broadway, pop, madrigal, country, gospel, barbershop and soft rock.
If you would like to join LOS this season, please let them know via email at (email@example.com) so they can make arrangements for an audition time. You are also welcome to sit in on a few rehearsals prior to auditioning to get to know us a bit prior to auditioning. New singers will work with the Artistic Director to determine your vocal range, ability to match notes and stay on pitch, and determine your singing part (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass). You DO NOT need to prepare a solo song for the audition. Auditions will be held from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm prior to rehearsals starting.
