San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo February 8th – 25th 

Established in 1949, The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has grown to be one of the largest and most prestigious single events in the city, with over 2 million visitors each year.

Adulting 101 

Calling all LGBTQ+ 17-24 year olds in and around the San Antonio area!  Are you interested in meeting up with some cool people you can relate to while learning some skills that will help your overall wellness?

Hughes Mendez Foundation (HMF) and UNIFY San Antonio are hosting monthly group sessions where #adulting is the focus of conversation. The meeting is held every third Wednesday at 6:30pm at 722 Isom Rd. The next meeting is Wednesday, February  21st, 6:30pm.

A range of topics from sexual health to mental health and everything in between will be covered. The best part is that you will guide where this group goes based on your suggestions about the skills you want to learn.

The San Antonio Home & Garden Show is happening February 23rd- 25th at the Alamodome.

With thousands of square feet of exhibits you’ll find the latest in products and services for everything from builders, contractors, materials, decks, pools, spas, entertainment systems, storage, plants, landscape displays/materials, kitchenware, and much more.

The MarketPlace

antiques Saddle up and get ready for The MarketPlace at Old Town Helotes Saturday, March 3rd! Music, food, and a good time are served up, and local craftsmen fill Old Town with treasures from across South Texas.

Happening the first Saturday every month, The MarketPlace is located in the heart of Old Town Helotes near the historic Floore Country Store and scenic Helotes Creek. Jewelry, arts and crafts, fresh produce, and one-of-a-kind pieces will be displayed. Additionally, local boutiques will open their doors and offer visitors a taste of Old Town Helotes! Gates open at 10am and close at 5pm. Gather the kids and come down to Old Town for a day of fun. MarketPlace proceeds benefit community activities within the City of Helotes.

Come see what everyone is raving about on Saturday, March 10th, at 1344 South Flores St! Great artists and makers! Savory gourmet food, live music, all with a very urban feel!

SoFlo Market is a family friendly and pet friendly event, that features a lively art scene and an alternative shopping experience that includes: handmade and vintage treasures from local artists and vendors, including jewelry, handmade soaps, recycled art, home accessories, skincare, fine art, pottery, local food truck cuisine, artistic activities for kids, and more.

Spring Cabaret Show- A Festive Night In Song  

The Live Oak Singers, San Antonio’s LGBTQ and friends chorus, are having their Spring Cabaret at Matamoros Restaurante y Cantina on March 11th, 6:00-8:00 pm.

St. Patrick’s Day Artisan Show 

Over 40 artisans display and sell their beautiful handmade merchandise along the San Antonio Riverwalk. Artisans are different for each show, but usually include pottery, textiles, jewelry, woodwork, paintings, bead-work and more.

The show is free to attend. Artisans display and sell their beautiful handmade merchandise along the San Antonio River Walk. River Walk extension (close to the Chamber of Commerce building and Shops at Rivercenter)

Dyeing of the River Green – River Walk  

Each year since 1968 the River Walk is magically transformed into the River Shannon with eco-friendly green dye. This year it is brought to you by Maddogs on March 16th and March 17th at 1pm.

This is a very exciting time to visit the River Walk and watch the amazing transformation. A bagpiper plays on the barge as the river is transformed.

Free viewing available along the entire 2 1/2 mile downtown portion of the River Walk. The color is instantly apparent and intensifies with water movement by the boats. The second-day application creates an even richer color. It’s a great time to sit outdoors on a patio and enjoy a pint, or two…

Bud Light St. Patrick’s Day Festival  

St. Patrick’s Day has been celebrated on the River Walk since 1968 as a joint project by the San Antonio River Walk Association and the Harp & Shamrock Society of Texas. This tradition continues today. It’s happening March 16th & 17th, noon – 8pm on both days, at La Vilita and Arneson River Theater.

Green Bud Light will be sold at the Arneson River Theatre along with Irish and other ethnic foods. Festival entertainment includes a family-friendly interactive activity called Passport to Ireland.

Other festival activities include face-painting, henna artistry, caricatures, photo booth, Irish novelty items for sale and officially-licensed River Walk merchandise plus a bunch of new activities in between the musical entertainment.

St Patrick’s Day River Parade  

On Saturday, March 17th, 4pm – 6pm, a procession of 14 decorated floats filled with Irish entertainment can be viewed from anywhere on the parade route. Several bagpipers will grace the floats along with other entertainers.

This event started in 1968 and has been organized by the San Antonio River Walk Association and the Harp & Shamrock Society of Texas since that time.

This parade is free!

St. Patrick’s Day Block Party  

San Antonio’s Biggest and Baddest Irish Celebration is at Sparky’s Pub on Saturday, March 17th, 9pm – 2am.

Join in the fun…Drink Green Beer, Cocktails, Irish Whisky, Green Beer, Great Treats and…. Green Beer.

March Madness Music Festival  

It’s the loudest 72 hours of music, right in the heart of San Antonio at the Alamodome. Enjoy the sounds and sunshine in downtown San Antonio March 30th – April 1st.

Pack your sunglasses and sandals for this must see festival. Brought to you by NCAA Corporate Champions and Partners, March Madness Music Festival typically starts in the late afternoon and will jam on into the evening.

The music fest is FREE and open to fans of all ages.

Weekly Happenings

San Antonio Front Runners

A group of GLBTI runners/walkers who get together on Sunday mornings at 9:00 (in the summer). They leave from the garage behind the Witte Museum in Brackenridge Park (Avenue B and Tuleta Drive).

Alamo City Wranglers

The Wranglers are a GLBTQ & Friends Square Dancing Club.

They meet every Thursday, 7:30pm to 9:30pm, at The International Folk & Culture Center at Our Lady of the Lake University, 411 SW 24th St, Building 23 .

You can park in lot B.  **Except the week before IAGSDC convention, Thanksgiving, and the Christmas/New Year holiday weeks.

If you like to sing and harmonize with others, join the Live Oak Singers (LOS). They practice every Monday at 6:30pm – 9:30pm, at Woodlawn Pointe, 702 Donaldson Ave.

LOS include beginners to those who have degrees in music. They particularly need more female singers. LOS sing a wide variety of music from Broadway, pop, madrigal, country, gospel, barbershop and soft rock.

If you would like to join LOS this season, please let them know via email at ( so they can make arrangements for an audition time.  You are also welcome to sit in on a few rehearsals prior to auditioning to get to know us a bit prior to auditioning.  New singers will work with the Artistic Director to determine your vocal range, ability to match notes and stay on pitch, and determine your singing part (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass).   You DO NOT need to prepare a solo song for the audition.   Auditions will be held from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm prior to rehearsals starting.

Monthly Meetings

Stonewall Democrats (SDSA) meet every third Monday each month, 6:30pm, at Picante Grill, 3810 Broadway. Everyone is invited. Next Meeting is February 19th.
San Antonio Gender Association (SAGA) meets every first and third Thursdays of the month. Meetings are held from 6pm to 8pm at the MCC Church located at 611 East Myrtle. SAGA offers a welcoming meeting place for transgendered persons and their friends and family who support them. The next meeting is March 1st.
PFLAG San Antonio Meetings are held the first Thursday every month at 7:00pm at the University Presbyterian Church, 300 Bushnell Ave. Next meeting is March 1st.
