Love Stinks

The Capital City Men’s Chorus will be performing an after dark cabaret show, Love Stinks, on Friday, February 24th at Rusty’s, 405 E. 7th St. There will be two shows at 9pm and 11pm. $5 donations accepted at the door.


AGLCC Toastmasters

Austin Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce has a Toastmasters’ group that meet every 2nd and 4th Mondays at Rusty’s, 405 E. 7th St.

The next gathering is Monday, February 27th, 6pm. Learn how to master the art of speech, build your confidence and achieve greater Success in your life.

Members take it at their own pace, with have a lot of positive support. Dues to join the club are $42 for the 6-month period (Oct-Mar) + $20 for initial materials (for NEW Toastmasters).


HRC Tuesdays Together

The popular HRC monthly Tuesdays Together will be happening Tuesday, February 28th, at 6:30pm, with Dinah Lakeshore at Hugo’s Restaurant Y Tequila Bar, 300 S. Lamar. Everyone is invited!


Viva Once Upon A Time – Viva Las Vegas

Indulge in the glamour, silent auction, faux gambling, live entertainment, music, some of Austin’s best food, and a ridiculously good time!

Proceeds benefit AIDS Services of Austin and its Capital Area AIDS Legal Project, protecting the rights of people living with AIDS in the Austin-area.

Star of Texas Fair & Rodeo 

The annual rodeo is March 9th – 24th at 9100 Decker Lake Road – Come enjoy seventeen days of family fun! There’s a carnival, a Kidstown, food, cook-off competitions, rodeos and a great big time for everyone.


Weekly Happenings

Austin Front Runners 

Austin Front Runners (formerly Capital City Front Runners) is a Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered running/walking group open to all fitness levels. They meet for fun runs/walks around beautiful Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin. They organize fun networking/social events, volunteer opportunities and a monthly newsletter to our members. Typically we meet for a meal after the Tuesday and Saturday run/walk at a nearby, casual/modestly priced restaurant. Run Times: Tuesdays & Thursdays – 5:30pm; Saturday Mornings -10:00am; Sunday Mornings 7:45am (Butler Park) and 9am (Mo-Pac bridge) Long runs. Meeting Point: (Stretching Area under the Mo-Pac bridge).

Austin Tennis Club 

ATC is a GLBT-friendly group who meets weekly to practice, socialize, and to help promote the sport of tennis in the gay and lesbian community. They are a member of the international Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance (GLTA) and host an annual tournament on the circuit known as the Heart of Texas Classic, or the HOT tournament. Besides the Friday night doubles socials, our club offers a singles challenge ladder, Team tennis competitions, annual Singles and Doubles tournaments, and a variety of social events allowing members the chance to network, socialize, and talk about what else… Tennis!!

Friday Night Doubles meet South Austin Tennis Center, 1000 Cumberland Rd. Courts available at 6:30pm to warm-up Games are at 7pm. Tuesday Night Doubles meet  at Austin Tennis Center 7800 Johnny Morris Rd. Courts available at 6:30pm to warm-up.

Austin Sure Shots

Austin’s Women’s Pistol League. Sure Shots have two”chapters”—South and North, that practice on alternating Wednesdays—one week at Red’s Gun Range in Oak Hill, the next week at Red’s Gun Range in Pflugerville, etc. Red’s has been so kind to extend to Sure Shots the same special rates as Mondays’ “Ladies’ Day”, where the cost per hour is only $7.50, and the rental of ANY gun is free (you just have to buy your ammo there). There are no membership fees to become a Sure Shot… just show up! Checkout them out on Facebook.

Lone Star Lambdas  

Lone Star Lambdas is a Modern Western GLBT square dance club in Austin that practice all-position square dancing. They dance to live callers who use the Callerlab mainstream and plus programs. 

What do you need to come and dance? Comfortable shoes and a good attitude! You don’t need a partner and the dress is casual and comfortable.

The Lone Star Lambdas meet on Monday Nights from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 200 W. Anderson Lane (US 183).


Monthly Meetings

Stonewall Democrats have their regular monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm at Cafe Express (3418 N. Lamar Blvd). The next meeting will be March 7th.

North PFLAG meets the second Tuesday each month at  Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church, 3315 El Salido Parkway, Cedar Park (located off 620 near Lakeline Mall), 7pm to 9pm. Come at 6:45pm for the informal Meet and Greet time before the meeting. Next meeting is March 13th.

South PFLAG meets the second Thursday each month at  Faith Presbyterian Church, 1314 East Oltorf St, Austin (Across from Travis High School, by the intersection of I-35 and Oltorf), 7pm to 9pm. Come at 6:45pm for the informal Meet and Greet time before the meeting. Next meeting is March 8th.

Central Texas Transgender Society (CTTGS) luncheons are usually held at 12:00 noon on the 4th Saturday of the month. Email cttgstx@gmail.com  for the location.
